I used the Freja NYC Mercer Bag in Oat for two months straight for every occasion and outfit. Here are my unfiltered thoughts, pros, and cons.

These are all my personal opinion. You can absolutely style the bag however you prefer to your heart’s desire and your look will remain fabulous regardless of my words. This is is simply how the Freja NYC Mercer bag fits into my lifestyle especially considering I purchased it on Revolve in Oat.
Originally, I sought this out for the sake of specific Spring and Summer styling for 2025 to don everyday with every look. Living in Los Angeles, this suits my wardrobe perfectly all year-round. Even if I wore it with my all-white Winter looks, it would also still slay, respectively.

Pros:
- Unique standout structured piece
- On-trend
- Good for year-round styling
- Well-made
- Insanely sturdy
- Holds structure
- Holds a lot of items while still being on the smaller side
- Matches a lot of everyday style items
- Takes you from day to night
- Smart polished style

Cons:
It fits on the crook of your forearm and suffocates the underarm. In other words, it happens to be inconvenient if you are carrying a lot of or heavy items that need extra handling than normal. The Mercer stays on your shoulder with one handle when the clasp is not closed, so you have to be on top of clutching it.

Trying to open the bag when reaching for items is difficult, because the zipper and material are not very flexible. My hand is always scratched up from the zipper squeezing it and I have small hands. I cannot imagine for those who have larger digits. If you are wearing rings or bracelets — beware! Otherwise, it is good for keeping your items from falling out.

Where + When:
- Spring day date: brunch with the girls, date with man friend
- Evening with girls
- Running errands
- To and from office
- Cocktail party
Not For: Travel or Studying
You will definitely need a larger, more capacious tote bag for studying materials and travel supplies. This is better for going from A to B with the bare essentials and then some.

How To Style:
- Flowy mini dress with suede knee boots / platform wedges / slides
- Structured workwear i.e., suiting, blazer, power trousers
- Sweater dress with pumps
- Academia micro mini layered shirt, cardigan, tights
- Block dress with wrap blazer / duster
- Pencil skirt, silk top, trench coat
- Colourful evening party dress

With its timeless aesthetic, durable design, and ethical craftsmanship, the Freja NYC Mercer Bag in Oat is truly an essential for any modern working woman or chic city girl. Whether you’re heading to a business meeting, brunch date, or evening event, this bag effortlessly takes you from day to night—all while making a sophisticated, conscious fashion statement.

I used this bag for 2 months straight.
Ultimately, this bag is indestructible. I have not seen a decline in its formation or give. Coming home from a tumultuous trip to to the grocery store meant squeezing my way through a clamoring crowd of individuals queued up for weekend provisions. Its composition stayed in tact as I accidentally leaned on it when loading my car with heavy cat supplies by the gallon. The Freja NYC bag compressed between my body and the cart as I bent over to pick up bags of steaks and it remained in its original condition.
Worried about the dust that seemed to be imprinted on it with the force I rested my body on it with, the dirt easily was wiped off. With my dry fingers. Effortlessly too — I was awfully pleased. It is easy for me to wear, use, and style over and over. The chief regret I have with this bag aside from its stubbornness in structure that greatly benefits me from being stolen from is the fact that I did not purchase one in black. Le sigh.
