How to Get Rid of Bumpy, Textured Skin in 7-14 Days: Effective Skincare Routine & Herbivore Review

I saw results within a day of using this Herbivore routine. After seven days of remaining consistent, I could feel a substantial impact in my skin’s clarity, evenness in complexion and texture. It is a wonder all of the concerns this simple skincare routine targeted and I am thoroughly impressed now that it was been 14 days straight of me simplifying my routine for smooth, balanced skin. Timeline: 7-14 days

For me results were in 24 hours, because I am like a hawk when it comes to looking for differences in my skin. I am constantly on the search for how to alter my skin’s appearance with small degrees of improvement.

Everything I do for smooth facial skin

  1. Dermaplaning razors Every 3 weeks
  2. Chemical exfoliant cleanser Daily
  3. Balancing Oil Daily
  4. Manual exfoliating cleanser 1-2 times a week
  5. Spinning face brush 1-2 times a week

The things I want to highlight in this routine that I use regularly are my Herbivore blue tansy duo. The dermaplaning, Lancer Method Polish, and spinning face brush are supplementary.

A Simple Skincare Solution: All I did was wash my face and apply this oil to get rid of my skin’s dry flakes and bumpy texture.

Results: My face was smooth to the touch without dead skin and debris rolling into my hands as I caressed my cheeks, forehead, jaw, and chin. It was baby smooth.

Tip: I do not recommend using this routine every single day of your natural life as you will peel and see dead skin when applying foundation or concealer makeup. This is a reset skincare routine I prefer to use every month or bimonthly for a week or two to rejuvenate my epidermis and feel new.

Step 1: Cleanse

Herbivore’s Blue Tansy AHA + BHA Resurfacing Clarity Cleanser is a gentle yet effective facial cleanser designed to exfoliate, hydrate, and promote clear, smooth skin. It combines natural ingredients like blue tansy oil, AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), BHA (beta hydroxy acids), and papaya enzymes to target skin texture, breakouts, and dullness.

What it does:

1. Exfoliates & Resurfaces: The AHAs (like glycolic acid) and BHAs (such as salicylic acid) help gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover. This leads to a smoother, more even complexion over time.

2. Calms & Reduces Redness: Blue tansy oil is the star ingredient, known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It helps soothe the skin, reduce redness, and calm irritation, making it a great choice for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

3. Deeply Cleanses: The cleanser effectively removes dirt, oil, and makeup without stripping the skin, leaving it feeling clean but not dry.

4. Fights Acne & Prevents Breakouts: The combination of AHA, BHA, and papaya enzymes works together to unclog pores, reduce the appearance of blemishes, and prevent new breakouts, making it ideal for acne-prone skin.

5. Hydrates & Balances: Despite its exfoliating power, the formula also includes moisturizing ingredients that help keep the skin hydrated and balanced, preventing the dryness that can sometimes result from exfoliating cleansers.

Overall, Herbivore’s Blue Tansy Cleanser is designed to provide a gentle yet effective exfoliation while soothing inflammation and promoting a clear, smooth, and radiant complexion. It feels light, smells lovely, and I love the pump action that locks so I can travel with it. It also makes it easier to utilise in the shower and at the sink. This little convenience makes a huge difference. On top of it all, the size is what makes me thoroughly thrilled. It is on the larger side and I can really see the results to know that it is working, but it does not sting my face. The gentle factor is a bonus.

Heads Up: It peels your skin, because it is a chemical exfoliant. When you apply concealer or face makeup, you will notice the peeling. For me, it is typically on the nose and I have to touch up my makeup lightly, but most of the time I live with it.

Step 2: Hydrate

Herbivore Lapis Facial Oil is a lightweight, hydrating oil designed to balance and soothe the skin, especially for those with oily, combination, or acne-prone skin. Its key ingredient is blue tansy oil, which is known for its anti-inflammatory and calming properties, helping to reduce redness and irritation. Additionally, it contains squalane, a moisturising agent that hydrates without clogging pores, and jojoba oil, which mimics the skin’s natural oils, helping to regulate oil production.

In my experience, oil also helps remove oil. If you ever tried cleaning an oily pan with water it does not come off, because you need a proper agent to neutralise its capabilities. My skin is not only clear from not having acne, but my pores are cleaner, and the bumps when I touch my face are gone. Potential pimples and under-the-skin blemishes are not congesting up my face. I feel like that is one of the signs of stress on a person’s face. Their skin has a buildup of blockage and pores appearing larger.

I have been using this for years on and off. The mini version is also top tier for protecting your cuticles from drying out. The key highlight of this fabulous oil is the fragrance for me. It is absolutely addicting. My boyfriend now uses it to detox his skin after a rough long day outdoors. I love digging my nose into his beard just to smell it on him. It’s a calming scent that nourishes something in me.

This oil works to:

– Calm inflammation and redness, making it ideal for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

– Balance oily skin by controlling excess oil production, preventing breakouts.

– Hydrate and lock in moisture, leaving skin soft and smooth without feeling greasy.

– Promote a clearer complexion over time by soothing irritated skin and reducing the appearance of blemishes.

Its lightweight, non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog your pores) formula makes it perfect for providing hydration and calming effects without overwhelming the skin.

I have noticed that my face is not as red and my hyperpigmentation is much more manageable. The uneven parts of my skin where there is more concentrated melanin is not as intense and it almost gets rid of it completely. I have an entire guide of what I use to help balance my skin tone for a brighter more even complexion.

Step 3: Dermaplane

A few years ago, I wanted to line up my widow’s peak and get rid of my sideburns with this cute little razor I found on Amazon. My Korean friend said this is something she uses from Korea to clean up her brows, and I noticed it made my face so smooth.

When originally experimenting with how to get rid of my skin’s bumps – don’t do this, it doesn’t work – I tried shaving these parts of my skin. What I learnt in the process was my little dermaplaning razor was great at removing the random flakes of dead skin that were hard to reach. Only sold on Amazon for $2.99, I have kept this set of three little razors as a part of my smooth skin arsenal.

Step 4: Manually Exfoliate

Lancer Method Polish for normal to combination skin was a sample that arrived with my Sephora order from ten years ago. It was not until years later that I found out Dr. Lancer was next door to a clinic where I used to work on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. He is the dermatologist to the stars which explained the hefty price tag on this cleanser. However, it was a life changing experience for me.

The closest exfoliating cleanser I could compare this to was discontinued by Clarins. That tiny bottle of one or two ounces (I think about that size) was $60. This is now $89 in 2025 as I write this and is worth every penny. I usually purchase this in a set of two for eight ounces each bottle. A little bit goes a long way, and I use this once or twice a week especially when using the Herbivore blue tansy duo routine. On a regular basis when I go back to my normal routine, I use this about twice a week. Perhaps thrice.

Heads Up: The beads in this are strong, so I try not to use it as intensely. What I love is how fine the particles are and how easy they spread across your skin without it feeling like rocks from the beach are scratching you across the face. Try not to scrub your nose too hard or you will get broken capillaries as I have from doing this. Now, I have to find a medspa with a laser that can help disperse the look of these dark veins on the side of my nostrils.

Key Takeaway

I wholeheartedly hope this helps as it has made a massive difference for me and how I view my skincare and makeup routine. If you prefer to keep your routine simple, I highly suggest sticking to the cleanser and oil. I use the oil without any other supplementary products for my skincare routine. This was also how I understood that the results I experienced were from this and this alone rather than wondering which part of my routine was responsible.

Keeping it simple and streamlined is always the way to go when feeling out what works best for you and reminding you of how beautiful you already are. You do not need a mountain of steps to understand your beauty – quite the opposite. Taking care of your skin by understanding that less is more really helps you appreciate your natural shine.
