Romanticise Your Nights At Home: A Nightgown Love Affair

Hello, Gorgeous!

A not so hidden secret is how much I love glamourising every part of my routine to make the mundane magnificent. I was one of the individuals during Covid who remained dressing up and putting on clothes to be ready for the day.

On the other hand, one of my hidden secrets is the fact that I receive endless compliments in my most comfortable state.

Nightgowns are what I wear during late nights putting puzzles together, reading side by side Cashmere the cat, and lounging in what feels like luxury.

This is a side I only show to my dear girlfriends who frequent sleepovers and lovers who plan on sticking around for a lengthy period of time.

Here are some of my recent dressing gown purchases that will not break the bank and make you feel like a movie star.

Every woman must have this piece.

First is my favourite as the colour is striking and I am going back to collect more cool tones. Standing at 5’2″ (1,57m), the length is perfect with a maxi hem. The drape falls effortlessly with your body making broad shoulders seem more petite.

The material is exceptionally light without being overtly clingy and lace trim is a delicate touch. Everything about this fit, colour, and way it moves with you is top tier even after washing it.

Ruffles and ribbons of flattery

I am loving this rather royal moment with the way this nightdress fits. Being quite short, it falls very high and might feel more like a tank top for someone taller. For me, it fits perfectly. However, your bum will be sticking out – though on me the cheeks show barely a touch.

The fit is comfortable, stretchy with give, and flattering. This will be an item I will be reaching for on hot Summer nights. Put a dressing gown over it to make myself decent before answering the door for last minute visits and parcel-pick-ups.

Mesh movie star

Talk about romance. Puddling past my toes, the length is on the longer side. The fibre moves radiantly with you and makes everything you do a bit more graceful. I have tripped on it a time or two, but it is worth the drama. It is quite a bit of material.

There are other colours I am not going back to purchase, though it does make a great gift. I feel like every major silver screen star in the past and want to saunter around the apartment with a glass of sparkling something in hand.

Modal minimalism

Modal is meant for minimal nights in. Muted tones are available as well. The lace trim on the body is not necessary but it does add a feminine flare. For me, the movement and drape is what adds flattery to the comfort.

I feel that this is something you wear after a shower, a lounge on the sofa with something to read, or getting your morning routine started. It is definitely a staple with the readily available sleeves to access your world.

Floral and feminine

The idea of this dressing gown but it is not entirely working for me. I am still deciding whether I want to keep it or not, however the ruffle placement for me is not a yes please. It is more of an okay, this works.

I am in love with the colour. The print quality is not the best, but I do not find it too flattering on me or to my taste. Some might say otherwise and I can see that. But I am not head over heels for it 100%.

Eastern state of mind

The print is breathtaking along with the outside material’s colours. However, this fibre is not flattering on me since I have broad shoulders. The drop shoulder cut is making me look even more top heavier and the pockets do not help.

I feel this looks better on a man or someone with petite or average shoulder width. Also, the print on the inside is not coherent with the external. This is being sent back even though I do not want to. Perhaps I might keep it for a guest?
