The greatest compliment I received in a while: giving myself a luxurious life
Hello, Gorgeous!
A successful man asked me about my lifestyle.
āDo you have a benefactor?ā
Ooh. All my hard work out the window.
Attributed to a man once again.
Sigh. To be a girl who wants it all.
At first, I was taken aback and a bit offended. All the years of hard work to get to this point. I lost over 200 pounds of stress recently and have been living my best life.
Dream apartment. Eat sushi everyday. Sauna and workouts consistently. I always look put together.Ā
I can see how it might look like I am a kept woman.
As a matter of fact, I am not.
Working three jobs, feeling like a slave at times, sacrificing certain supplementary luxuries I used to have. Life is great. Though simplified, I never feel like I am missing out, because I am on my way.
This is not the first time I was ahead in rent or bought the latest just because item this year. It is blood, sweat, and tears and nobody can take that away from me.
Every month, I make a moodboard adjusting my goals, reminding myself of what I want to do and pushing myself to find what I am capable of. Accomplishment is the greatest feeling.
If he sees me in diamonds, it is because I purchased them. Starter lab grown diamonds or not, I am proud because I did this.
There are times people ask if I need help.
For simple tasks, I take it. Harder ones ā I at least try to do it myself first.
It is rare when people offer help, because I do not seem like my life is difficult. However, when the going gets tough and I need a place to live or bed to rest my head for the night, I can always call the reinforcements.
But I hardly let that happen.
Taking care of myself has also taught me to pace myself in other aspects of life.
When it comes to reaching miniscule triumphs for myself, I celebrate.
Celebrating looks different for everyone. For me, it is putting away a windfall to save, towards a financial long term goal, or learning about something new.
It can be an experience with a friend, a topic I have been wanting to explore, or skill to acquire.
Let your advances be lived.
I do not find myself posting as many outfits or places I go, because I take them in in real time. Appreciation for these moments brings me far as I want it to be as regular as blinking.
They are not oddities but simply another day in my life. Luxury is the new normal.
Well it was normal before and it has come back in spades. This time fully on my own, so it is even more delicious.
